4 Myths of SPF roofing insulation

Dragons, unicorns, and honest politicians are all parts of folklore, the stuff of legends and myths. The common theme is that they’re not true! There are several myths people sometimes believe when it comes to SPF roofing.
Myth: SPF roofing is expensive!
Truth: Compared to many other commercial roofing solutions, SPF roofing is actually very affordable. When you factor in the boost in energy savings, virtually limitless life-cycle, and removing any need for flashing or panel fasteners, SPF roofing is extremely cost-efficient.
Myth: SPF roofing isn’t water-resistant.
Truth: SPF insulation’s initial bonding and expansion process fills and seals any crack or crevice on any roofing substrate, making your new SPF roof highly resistant to water. The closed-cell construct of SPF insulation creates an impenetrable barrier to hold off the effects of moisture.
Myth: SPF roofing is a new trend; it’s not going to last!
Truth: Polyurethane foam was first researched and tested for insulation purposes in the late 1930s. Texas A&M first shared the value of SPF as a roofing solution in 1993, over twenty years ago! R&A Contracting has been installing SPF roofs across St. Louis for several years now and we’re just getting started!
Myth: SPF roofs are fragile.
Truth: The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) have both confirmed that standard SPF roofs are capable of withstanding up to 50 lb. psi of pressure. This means SPF roofs are more than capable of sustaining regular foot traffic, but just like any other roofing material, sharp objects can penetrate and compromise the roofing solution.
