Why Thanksgiving Means More Than Simply Taking A Moment To Be Grateful

Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is right around the corner. With a few short days left in November, we still want to linger on the gratitude of Thanksgiving. It helps us focus in on the history and intent of a holiday we often whisk past too easily.
We’re all familiar with the classic, romanticized version of Thanksgiving with pilgrims and Indians coming together to join in a feast. However, we at R&A Contracting believe Thanksgiving is first and foremost an intensely spiritual event. We believe it is a time to share our faith, bask in the blessings God has given to us, and strengthen our connection with God.
Building a Thanksgiving tradition with these three pillars enables us to strengthen our relationship with God, our family, and our loved ones. It also gives us a fresh perspective to see the hand of Lord moving in our lives. Connecting with God while coming from a place of genuine, unwavering gratitude is an ongoing journey. In order to keep our hearts open and engaged in this process, we must:
- Focus on the true meaning of community and how we can keep building into each other as neighbors and friends
- Prepare to reflect on the abundance of gifts God has given to us.
- Help others value the gift of gratitude so we don’t forget and get too comfortable with the life we’re blessed to enjoy.
The R&A family has a great many blessings for which we give thanks to God. This year we’re specifically thankful for:
- Outstanding, loyal employees
- Families who support our employees on a daily basis
- Returning clients who put their trust in us
- New clients that are sure to become returning clients
- Lapolla as our main supplier of foam and coatings
- Outstanding suppliers that provide us with all of our materials
- Business associates, bankers, and consultants who help us with the day to day operations
- Men’s Bible study every Thursday morning at R&A
- That we get to be a part of Beraka Ministries and Meals for a Million
- That we live in a country where we are free to serve our God without worry of retribution
With still some time before the holiday bustle goes full speed, we encourage you to pause for a moment and be thankful for what you have. Life is not an accident and we want you to know your life has a greater purpose. God has given us so many blessings and we thank you for reading and sharing with us.
Happy Thanksgiving and here’s to a Merry Christmas!
