You won’t believe what Spray Foam can do!

Building owners across the U.S. are raving about spray foam for their roofs. You may wonder, “It’s spray foam- how fantastic could it possibly be?!” Prepare to be wowed!
Spray foam is delivered in liquid format contained in large drums that are transported to the jobsite. The drums contain two separate chemical elements: isocyanate, a type of polyurethane, and polyol fiber, a hard resin-type material. A spray applicator (hence the name ‘spray’ foam) is used to extract the liquid from the two drums and then applied (hence the name ‘applicator’) on the roofing surface. And that’s when spray foam starts its magic.
You may be tempted to think, “If the spray foam is liquid, won’t it just slide off any slope before it has time to bond?” That’s a great question! The polyol fiber creates an adhesive bond to any roofing surface, even rock, metal, and brick. As soon as the two materials are mixed and sprayed, the spray foam instantly begins its expansion process. The chemicals react to each other and rapidly expand to as much as thirty times its liquid density.
So, what if you applied spray foam into tight spaces- how strong is the spray foam expansion process? Strong enough to raise sinking concrete slabs, such as porches, driveways, sidewalks and roadways! Construction crews are using spray foam to level depressed sections of concrete so they don’t have to rip out the old section, dispose of the debris, and pour new concrete. The time and money saved from using spray foam to level concrete sections is unbelievable.
Construction crews are also using spray foam in the form of Ditch Foam, or Saddle Foam as it’s often called, to support water and gas pipelines underground. The spray foam doesn’t settle over time like sand and rock does. It also never deteriorates. This eliminates any need for a crew to send personnel into tight spaces to secure supports and risk possible injury or even death. Using spray foam to safely and securely position water and gas pipelines also save time and money.
Spray foam’s incredible R-value and other energy-efficient properties make it a great solution for insulating building walls, crawlspaces, holding tanks, and other applications across countless industries. Our R&A Contracting uses spray foam to insulate and strengthen existing roofs to extend the life of your building. Whether you have a metal roof, a single-ply asphalt roof, or any other type of commercial roof, we can help you reduce energy costs and preserve the value of your roof without expensive tear-off and replacement costs in the future.
